Phil Trujillo is in his ninth year of coaching at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The program has evolved into one of the top Division II programs in the nation. The Mountain Lions are consistently ranked in the top 20 in the NCAA national rankings.
Since taking over he has led the team to four NCAA National Championships and a No. 1 national ranking. He is a four-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and a five-time Regional Coach of the Year. Trujillo has won the Conference Championship seven times and has never finished below second in the conference. In 2009, the Mountain Lions won the Super Regional tournament which included all the teams from the West Region, once again advancing to the NCAA's
Trujillo has had many All-American players and Conference Player of the Year awards. He has had three freshmen win the Freshman of the Year award and has had one player achieve the number one ranking in Division II golf. The Mountain Lions won the Division I Air Force Falcon Invitational by eight shots, defeating team like UNLV, San Diego, New Mexico State and all of the Division I Colorado teams.
Trujillo attended the University of Alabama- Birmingham as well as the Golf Academy of the South. He considers himself a local and has lived in the area since 1990. He is also employed at the Eisenhower Golf Club at the United States Air Force Academy and has been there since 1991.
He is married to Dr. Amy Williams Trujillo from Virginia and they have a son, Seve Williams Trujillo born in 2010.
