The Mountain Lions shot four strokes under par in the second round and ended the day at eight over par with one round remaining tomorrow.

The Mountain Lions earned two first place votes and finished four voting points behind the preseason runner-up.

April 3, 2012Mountain Lions win the Skyhawk Desert Shootout, DeLashmutt wins individuval titleThe UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season this week by winning the Skyhawk Desert Shootout hosted in Palm Desert, CA. Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. Grant Dean was the third top finisher for the Mountain Lions, as he finished tied for 7th place. The overall individual results were as follows:
March 29, 2012Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the WeekUCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.
March 28, 2012#20 Mountain Lion take 3rd at the Grand Canyon University InviteThe UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season by traveling to Grand Canyon University to compete in the Thunderbird Invite this past week. The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.
March 16, 2012#12 Mountain Lions Finish Strong at the Socal IntercollegiateThe UCCS men's golf team continues their early Spring season with the motto if you want to be the best, you have to play against the best. Although an 8th place tie finish might not seem quite up to the standards of the #12 nationally ranked Mountain Lions, given the incredible field of the top teams in Division II as well as the tough course at Mission Viejo Country Club, the UCCS men believe the dues they pay now will pay off come RMAC Championship and NCAA Championship time.

For the UCCS men's golf team, who've been relegated to practicing throughout the Colorado winter on fake or dead surfaces and likely haven't stood over half the shots their opponents have on green grass so far this year, to finish in the St. Edward's Invitational in 6th place among the 17 teams in attendance marks an exciting start to the early Spring golf season.
