Gritz, Castillo Lead Mountain Lions on Day One in RMAC Event

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Laura Gritz and Raquell Castillo both shot an 85 in the opening round to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team after the first day of the RMAC event at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club. The Mountain Lions are eighth among the 12 teams in the tournament and two strokes behind fifth.

Gritz shot 41-44 in the first round, while Castillo went 43-42 for the Mountain Lions. The pair are in a six-way tie for No. 14 in the overall results. Results beyond the top 20 individuals were not available from Black Hills State.

UCCS is one stroke behind Adams State and Black Hills State, and two strokes behind fifth-place Regis. Among the 10 RMAC teams in the tournament, the Mountain Lions are seventh.

The second and final round begins Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
