Kephart Improves in Second Round at U.S. Amateur

BROOKLINE, Mass. - Alex Kephart improved his score in the second round but the former University of Colorado Colorado Springs golfer missed the cut at the 2013 U.S. Amateur today. He shot a 76 in the second round to finish stroke play.

Kephart made back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3, and made another on hole 16 at Charles River Country Club, the championship's companion course. He finished with a second round score of 37-39 for six strokes over par.

Kephart finished fifth among the seven golfers who qualified from Colorado and tied for No. 223 overall among the 312 golfers. He was nine strokes off of the cut for the match play portion of the championship that begins tomorrow.

Kephart helped lead the Mountain Lions to the 2005-06 RMAC team championship and was an RMAC All-Academic selection in his senior season.
