By Colorado Springs Gazette published July 25, 2013

FORT COLLINS - Former University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golfer Alex Kephart will take part in the U.S. Amateur Championship after his qualifying performance Monday at the Fort Collins Country Club. Kephart will compete in the championship Aug. 12-18 at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

Kephart shot a 140 with a 71-69 on the 36-hole course to tie Kyle Danfod for Fort Collins for second in the tournament. It will be the first U.S. Golf Association championship event for Kephart.

"It's unbelievable," Kephart said. "I was in a playoff last year in the Mid-Am (qualifying tournament), but I've never made it to a USGA event, so it's unbelievable. I don't know words to describe it."
