SPEARFISH, S.D. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs turned in an 18-stroke improvement in the second round to finish in a tie for sixth in the second RMAC event of the season today at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club. Laura Gritz shot a 78 to tie for No. 10 overall.

The Mountain Lions improved from eighth to sixth between the rounds in the second tournament in program history. The 18-stroke improvement was the third-biggest improvement among the 12 teams in the tournament, which included the 10 RMAC teams along with Montana State-Billings and South Dakota Mines

Gritz turned in the sixth-best individual performance of the second round and took five strokes off of her previous season-best of 83 from last week's tournament in Pueblo West, Colo. It was the first sub-80 performance for any Mountain Lion in the program's first two tournaments.

Amanda Crites provided the second score for UCCS with a 15-stroke improvement and an 83 in the today's round. She tied for No. 40 overall in the results. Raquell Castillo recorded an 84 today, and paired with yesterday's 85, finished No. 22 overall.

Forre Zook lowered her score by four strokes to a 91 for the final individual score for the Mountain Lions in the second round. She finished alone in No. 47 in the results with an 186, one stroke behind Jamie Zook in the overall results, who finished with a 185 (89-96).

Up Next: UCCS will take the upcoming weekend off to prepare for the Adams State Tournament Sept. 29, at Rio Grande Club in Alamosa, Colo.
