Crites Becomes First Women's Golfer to Sign with UCCS
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs Director of Golf Operations Phil Trujillo is pleased to announce the first singing for the inaugural Mountain Lion women's golf program. Amanda Crites, a graduating senior at Liberty High School in Peoria, Ariz., signed a National Letter of Intent.
Crites has a season-best round of 74, which would have ranked as the fourth-best round in the 2013 RMAC Championship. She's led the Lions to conference, regional and sectional championships the last two seasons and was a First Team All-Region golfer the last two years. Crites was the 2011 district champion in 2011 and 2012 and a four-year letterwinner for Liberty.
Crites helped lead the Lions to the state tournament for the first time in program history in her junior year, and the team advanced again in her senior year. She was also a four-year varsity starter in basketball and a two-year member of the Lions softball team.
Crites is a member of the National Honor Society and is enrolled in honor English and math courses. She is an Honor Roll student and is ranked in the top 10 percent of her class.
Crites is the first student-athlete to sign with the inaugural season of UCCS women's golf. The team will be the 14th NCAA sport for UCCS in fall 2013 and will be one of 10 RMAC teams in 2013-14.
