HERSHEY, Pa. - No. 14 University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf will open play at 10 a.m., MDT, on Monday at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa. The Mountain Lions will tee off from hole 1 along with golfers from No. 3 Florida Southern and Bellarmine.

UCCS is making its fifth appearance at the national championships in program history and for the first time since the 2008-09 season. It will be the first time the Mountain Lions have qualified for the first time since the championship format switched from the best team score in four rounds to a play match tournament after a preliminary three-round tournament to determine match play participants.

The Mountain Lions had the sixth-best performance at the regional championships among the 20 teams that qualified for the national championships with an 861 for three-under par. Apart from the three finishers ahead of UCCS at the West / South Central championship, Central Missouri won the Midwest / Central Region tournament with an 839 for five-under par, and defending national champion Nova Southeastern won the South / Southeast Region championship with an 855 for nine strokes under par.

The Mountain Lions enter with four golfers ranked in the top 150 of the GolfStat rankings, led by No. 18 Kevin Witte. He finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Division II West / South Central Regional championships to lead UCCS to a fourth-place finish, and was the conference champion in late April. He's shot for par in five of his last six rounds and has finished in the top three in four of the last five tournaments.

Eddie DeLashmutt ranks No. 48 in the Division II individual rankings and is -1 in the combined three tournaments he's played in this spring. He finished second at the RMAC championship and CSU-Pueblo Wolf Pack Invitational, and was an All-RMAC First Team selection.

Spencer Biersdorff, a Second Team All-RMAC honoree, will be the third golfer for the Mountain Lions to tee off on Monday. A four-year player for UCCS, he was the conference freshman of the year in 2010 in the year after the last UCCS national tournament appearance. He ranks No. 100 in the GolfStat ranking and has played in all 12 tournaments for the Mountain Lions in 2012-13.

Grant Dean rounds out the Mountain Lions in the top 150 at No. 147. He was an RMAC Third Team student-athlete and shot his best round of the spring season in the second round of the regional championships with a 70. Conrad Isley turned in his best tournament of the season at regionals.

GolfStat will provide updated scores after every three holes. Photos will be posted after the first round on the Mountain Lion social media networks of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and video interviews will be uploaded to YouTube Monday evening.
