Witte Leads Field After Day at St. Edward's
AUSTIN, Texas - Kevin Witte shot five strokes under par with a 67 in the first round and three strokes under in the second round to lead the field after the first day of the St. Edward's Invitational today at Greyrock Golf Club. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs stands ninth of the 16 teams after the first two rounds today.
Witte leads he field by one stroke and led the field with the third-best mark in the second round with 69. He was the only golfer among the 81 to shoot under 70 in both rounds today.
Spencer Biersdorff posted the second-best score on the team with a 151 in two rounds. He shot a 75 in the opening 18 holes to tie for No. 32 in the standings, and shot 76 in the second round to finish in a tie for No. 42 after the first day. Patrick Skakel improved by six strokes from his first to second round and is in no. 46 with a 152.
Grant Dean rounded out the scoring golfers in both rounds and improved by five strokes in the second round to finish the day with a 157.
UCCS improved from No. 11 to ninth in the team standings between the rounds, and is one stroke behind eighth-place Cameron with 596.
The third round will tee off at 7:30 a.m. MST.
