Mountain Lions Turn in Strong Second Round to Finish Day in Sixth at Palmer Invite

AMARILLO, Texas - Spencer Biersdorff shot five strokes under par in the second round to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team to a sixth-place standing after the first day of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational today, hosted by West Texas A&M. The Mountain Lions shot four strokes under par in the second round and ended the day at eight over par with one round remaining tomorrow.

UCCS moved from No. 11 to sixth between the first and second rounds after a 16-stroke improvement. The Mountain Lions had the second-best team performance in the second round at 280 and sit one stroke behind Abilene Christian in the team standings.

Biersdorff sits in a four-way tie for No. 11 with a 142 after a 10-stroke improvement in the second round. He's eight strokes behind the leader, Jose Hernandez of St. Edward's.

Grant Dean shot a 72 in both rounds and tied for No. 20 at two strokes over par. Eddie DeLashmutt improved by one stroke in the second round and is tied for No. 25 overall and three over par. Conrad Isley provided the final team score in the first round with a 75, while Patrick Skakel improved his score by 12 strokes in the second round and provided a part of the team score in the second round with 70.

The third round of the Palmer Foundation Invitational begins at 8 a.m. MDT at the Tascosa Golf Club. The tournament represents the final fall event of the season for the Mountain Lions.
