Mountain Lions in No. 10 After First Day of Division II Fall Invitational
SUNRIVER, Ore. - Eddie DeLashmutt improved by three strokes from the first to the second rounds to reach par and lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team after the first day of the Golfweek Division II Fall Invitational today at the Sunriver Resort Crossriver Course in Sunriver, Ore.
The Mountain Lions improved their team total by six strokes to 293 on the par-72 course during the second round. UCCS was one stroke behind Sonoma State, three strokes behind No. 16 Indianapolis and four strokes behind conference opponent Colorado Mesa.
Conrad Isley led the Mountain Lions through the opening round with two strokes over par and made three birdies on the front nine. DeLashmutt, Grant Dean and Spencer Biersdorff each finished the first round one stroke behind Isley to make up the team score on the first 18 holes.
DeLashmutt's improvement in the second round led the Mountain Lions in the next 18 holes. Kevin Witte improved on his score by six strokes and shot a 73 in the second round while Dean and Biersdorff contributed the final two scores in the team standings with a 74.
DeLashmutt stands in a tie for No. 19 in the overall results and is three strokes out of the top 10. He ranks No. 90 in the GolfStat Head-to-Head Division II Rankings before today's tournament, and joins Dean and Biersdorff in the top 100. The field of 80 golfers features 20 student-athletes from the 13 teams ranked in the to 100 of the GolfStat rankings.
The Mountain Lions compete in the third and final round Tuesday morning.
