UCCS Golf Team Listed 12th and 17th in National Rankings
COLORADO SPRINGS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs golf team goes into the winter ranked 12th nationally in the Golfstat rankings and 17th in the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll.
The Mountain Lions head into their inactive period sitting in the No. 12 spot in the Golfstat NCAA Division II Head-to-Head ratings, which is the source most used when determining qualifiers for the NCAA Super Regionals. The Golfstat rankings are based, along with other criteria, on division comparative wins (record vs. other Division II teams), adjusted scoring average, average drop score and record vs. top 25 teams.
The Mountain Lions also jumped from unranked all the way to the No. 17 spot in the Nov. 7 Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll. Since the late September release of the previous poll, the Mountain Lions won the 20-team RMAC/NSIC Crossover Tournament and took second at both the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational and the CCU Fall Invitational.
Thos three results, in addition to a very strong showing at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Sept. 18-19, apparently caught the attention of the voting golf coaches.
UCCS will resume play on March 5-6 at the St. Edward's Argonaut Invitational in Austin, Texas.
