UCCS in Fourth After Two Rounds of CCU Fall Invitational

LITTLETON, Colo. - Kevin Witte shot a 3-under par 141 as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs finished the first day of the CCU Fall Invitational in fourth place.

Witte's effort put him in a fifth-place tie after two rounds, both played Monday, at Raccoon Creek Golf Club. Michael O'Connor of Western New Mexico is in first at 138, followed by the trio of James Berry (CSU-Pueblo), Bryan Kruse (CSU-Pueblo) and Jordan Arndt (Colorado Mines) at 139.

Witte's teammate, Patrick Skakel, shot a two-round score of 142. Other UCCS golfers were Spencer Biersdorff (144), Grant Dean (148) and Edward Delashmutt (151).

Colorado State-Pueblo holds the team lead heading into Tuesday's final round at 565. Colorado Mines is five strokes back, followed by Western New Mexico (572), UCCS (573) and Colorado Christian (584).

The tournament is the third of four that will determine the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference individual championship. It is also the final tournament of UCCS' fall schedule.

Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. Grant Dean was the third top finisher for the Mountain Lions, as he finished tied for 7th place. The overall individual results were as follows:
March 29, 2012Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the WeekUCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.
March 28, 2012#20 Mountain Lion take 3rd at the Grand Canyon University InviteThe UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season by traveling to Grand Canyon University to compete in the Thunderbird Invite this past week. The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.
