Shortly after graduation former UCCS Mountain Lion, Chris Shoop, took a big step in his professional golfing career. He competed in the European Qualifying School for the European Tour.

The European Qualifying School is held at the end of each golf season to establish which players will be allowed to compete in the European Tour. In the Qualifying School there are 1,000 competitors. The Qualifying School is done through three stages depending on the status of the individuals. The European Tour card is awarded to the leading 30 players (plus those tied for 30th place).

At the end of the first stage, Shoop was ranked 55th out of a thousand competitors. During the first two rounds of the stage he scored a 72. During the third round he scored 74 and 77 in the fourth.

Chris Shoop was a great golfer for UCCS. He was named second team All-RMAC his senior year. In the 2009-2010 season he was awarded with the RMAC player of the year award. His success has followed him all the way back from his high school career where he was a three time scholar-athlete award winner.
