Mountain Lions Win NSIC/RMAC Crossover by 13 Strokes

GOTHENBURG, Neb. - Four Mountain Lions finished among the top nine players as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs won the NSIC/RMAC Crossover Tournament by 13 strokes.

Edward Delashmutt led the UCCS contingent with a three-round score of 215 (1-under par), which tied him with Western New Mexico's Patrick Beyham for second place overall. Jim Knous of Colorado School of Mines was the individual medalist at 212.

The Mountain Lions' Spencer Biersdorff took fourth overall at 216, while Grant Dean was in a three-way tie for fifth at 217. Kevin Witte was tied for eighth at 218.

The Mountain Lions team score of 862 put them 2-under par. Colorado School of Mines was second at 875, followed by Colorado State-Pueblo (883), St. Cloud State (892) and Western New Mexico (893).

The tournament featured all men's golf teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Northern Sin Intercollegiate Conference, the two conferences that make up the NCAA's Central Region. It was also the second of four RMAC golf events that, combined, will determine the conference's individual golf champion.

At No. 23 in both the Golfstat rankings and the Golf Coaches Association of America poll, UCCS had the highest national ranking among the schools competing.

UCCS will compete in the Grand Canyon Invitational on Oct. 3-4.

Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. Grant Dean was the third top finisher for the Mountain Lions, as he finished tied for 7th place. The overall individual results were as follows:
March 29, 2012Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the WeekUCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.
March 28, 2012#20 Mountain Lion take 3rd at the Grand Canyon University InviteThe UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season by traveling to Grand Canyon University to compete in the Thunderbird Invite this past week. The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.
