U.S.AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Edward Delashmutt's 4-under par 68 tied for the fourth-best round Monday and helped the University of Colorado Colorado Springs move up one spot and into an 11th-place finish at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.

The Mountain Lions finished the first two rounds, both played Sunday, in 12th place. Their final round score of 291 (3-over par) pushed them past Weber State. UCCS was just three strokes in back of host Air Force.

UCCS, which competes at the NCAA Division II level, was the only non-Division I school competing at the tournament, which was held at the Eisenhower Blue Golf Course. The Mountain Lions stunned the golf world by winning the tournament in 2010.

The 2011 Falcon Invitational became a two-team race by midway through Monday's final round. Colorado and UNLV each ended up at 20-under par (844) for the tournament. UNLV won the team title in a playoff.

Colorado State took third place at 857 (7-under par), followed by North Carolina State (864), Ball State (866) and Denver (868).

While Delashmutt was the final-round leader for UCCS, it was Spencer Biersdorff who was the Mountain Lions' top individual finisher for the tournament. The junior from Nevada City, Calif., tied for fifth overall with a three-round score of 211 (5-under par).

Ball State-s T.J. Carpenter and UNLV's Kevin Penner tied for individual medalist honors at 7-under par. Colorado's Kevin Kring and Colorado State's Zahkai Brown tied for second at 6-under par.

Delashmutt was second among UCCS golfers at 1-under par (215) for the tournament. Patrick Skakel was third at 227, Kevin Witte fourth at 231 and Mitch Buchner fifth at 233.
