Mountain Lions in 12th After Two Rounds of Division I Falcon Invitational
U.S.AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Spencer Biersdorff shot a first-round 67 and a 4-under par 140 for the day to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to 12th place after two rounds, both played Sunday, of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Blue Golf Course.
Biersdorff will go into Monday's final round in a sixth-place tie for individual medalist honors. Colorado State's Zahkai Brown is the tournament leader at 7-under par.
UCCS' sister school, Colorado (Boulder), finished the first two rounds as the tournament leader with a team score of 559 (17-under par). The Buffaloes lead second-place UNLV by two strokes and thgird-place Colorado State by nine.
UCCS is the only non-Division I team competing at the tournament. A year ago, the Mountain Lions stunned the collegiate golf world by winning the Falcon Invitational.
At 586, UCCS trails Coastal Carolina and North Carolina State by two strokes, Weber State by four and No. 23 San Diego by five. The Mountain Lions finished the first round in fifth place at 2-under par, but slipped badly in Round 2.
Edward Delashmutt was second among UCCS golfers with a two-round score of 146 (2-over par), which tied him for 36th individually. Patrick Skakel was third at 150, followed by Kevin Witte at 151 and Mitch Buchner at 159.

|April 3, 2012||Mountain Lions win the Skyhawk Desert Shootout, DeLashmutt wins individuval title||The UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season this week by winning the Skyhawk Desert Shootout hosted in Palm Desert, CA. Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. |March 29, 2012||Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week||UCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.|
|March 28, 2012||#20 Mountain Lion take 3rd at the Grand Canyon University Invite||The UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season by traveling to Grand Canyon University to compete in the Thunderbird Invite this past week. The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.|
