UCCS Golfers Finish Fifth at Grizzlie Invitational
ALAMOSA, Colo. - A final-round 292 (8-over par) dropped the University of Colorado Colorado Springs golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Grizzlie Invitational at Cattails Golf Club.
The Mountain Lions entered Wednesday's round in a third-place tie, but were passed by both Colorado Mesa and Colorado State-pueblo. The tournament was the first of four that, combined, will determine the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champion.
Colorado School of Mines won the team title with a three-round score of 855 (3-over par), 10 strokes better than second-place Colorado Mesa. Western New Mexico was third at 868, followed by Colorado State-Pueblo (872) and UCCS (874).
Brandon Bingaman and Sean Robbins, both from Colorado Mesa, finished in a first-place tie for individual medalist with scores of 210 (3-under par). Jim Knous was second at 211, followed by Patrick Beyhan of Western New Mexico and Kevin Witte of UCCS, each at 212. Another UCCS golfer, Edward Delashmutt, was sixth with an even-par 213.
Mitch Buchner was third among UCCS golfers at 225, good for a 29th-place tie. Grant Dean shot 227. Spencer Biersdorff did not register an individual score because he did not finish the second round. He shot a 77 in the first round and a 73 in Wednesday's round.

|April 3, 2012||Mountain Lions win the Skyhawk Desert Shootout, DeLashmutt wins individuval title||The UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season this week by winning the Skyhawk Desert Shootout hosted in Palm Desert, CA. Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. |March 29, 2012||Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week||UCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.|
|March 28, 2012||#20 Mountain Lion take 3rd at the Grand Canyon University Invite||The UCCS men's golf team continued their Spring season by traveling to Grand Canyon University to compete in the Thunderbird Invite this past week. The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.|
