Mountain Lions in Third-Place Tie After Two Rounds of Grizzlie Invitational
ALAMOSA, Colo. - Newcomers Kevin Witte and Edward Delashmutt stood out as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs finished the first two rounds, both played Tuesday, in the Grizzly Invitational in a third-place tie.
Witte shot a 3-under par 139 and Delashmutt added a 1-over par 143 as the Mountain Lions finished the day with a team score of 582 (14-over par). The two joined UCCS after two seasons at Mesa Community College.
Colorado School of Mines goes into Wednesday's final round with an 11-stroke lead over second-place Western New Mexico and 13 strokes ahead of UCCS and Colorado Mesa.
Jim Knous of Mines was the individual leader at 4-under par after Tuesday's play. Witte was second, one stroke back, followed by Sean Robbins of Colorado Mesa at 2-under.
Mitch Buchner was third among UCCS golfers at 149 (7-over par), which put him in 22nd overall. Grant Dean, who also played at Mesa CC, was at 151.
The tournament is the first of four that, combined, will determine the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champion.

Not only will the team take the tournament title home, but Eddie DeLashmutt won the individual title as well. DeLashmutt, following up his recent RMAC Golfer of the Week honor, shot 225 over three rounds to take the individual title. One shot behind DeLashmutt was teammate Spencer Biersdoff, who finished tied for 2nd place with his stellar three rounds. |March 29, 2012||Eddie DeLashmutt RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week||UCCS Mountain Lion Eddie Delashmutt shot a nine-under par (207) to tie for first place out of 100 golfers at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite in Litchfield Park, Arizona (Wigwam Golf Course). He carded a 69 in each of the three rounds, helping the Mountain Lions finish third out of 20 teams.|

The Mountain Lion continued to impress, playing against some of the best competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, finishing 3rd overall in the tournament. Impressively, the Mountain Lions were led by Eddie DeLashmutt who shot 69 in all three of his rounds at the long, tough Wigwam Golf Course. DeLashmutt finished tied for 1st overall among individual finishers.|
