ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team was good enough Wednesday to climb three spots in the standings at the NCAA Division II West-Central Super Regional but still finished four spots out of a berth at nationals.

The Mountain Lions shot a 6-over 294 in the final round to finish ninth for the tournament. UCCS had been in 12th after both of the first two rounds.

The top five teams (Cal State-Monterey Bay, Sonoma State, Fort Lewis, Colorado State-Pueblo and Hawaii-Hilo) will move on to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Michael Tilghman lead UCCS in Wednesday's round with a 1-under par 71. Brian Morfeld was second at even par and Riley Andrews was third at 75. Spencer Biersdorff and Chris Shoop each shot 76.

Andrews' three-round score of 218 (2-over par) was the best UCCS score for the tournament and tied him for 20th overall. Shoop was next at 220, followed by Morfeld (222), Biersdorff (231) and Tilghman (233).

John Jackson of Cal State-Monterey Bay won individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 8-under par.
