No. 1 Western Washington Keeps UCCS in Second After First Day

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Spencer Biersdorff shot a 6-under par 66 to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs into second place after the first round of the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational Monday at The Golf Club at Estrella.

The second round. which was also scheduled for Monday, wasn't completed because of recurring weather delays. The final few holes of the second round will be completed Tuesday morning followed by the entire third round.

As brilliant as Biersdorff's first 18 holes were, he nonetheless entered the second round in second place. Western Washington's Dylan Goodwin shot a 63 to grab the individual lead.

Goodwin and his Western Washington teammates, ranked No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division II, completed the first round with a 16 stroke lead over second place UCCS. The Mountain Lions are the No. 9 ranked team nationally.
