BLAINE, Wash. - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs improved 14 strokes from Tuesday's first round but that was good enough only to land them in 16th after Wednesday's second round at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship at Loomis Trail Golf Club.

While the Mountain Lions climbed three places in the team standings, they still find themselves 36 strokes off the pace set by tournament leader Barry, which finished the second round at 583.

In second, one stroke off the lead, is Cal State-Stanislaus, followed by Sonoma State and Columbus State (each at 589) and Georgia College and State University at 590.

Chris Shoop led UCCS Wednesday with a 4-over par 75. Tyler Bishop shot a 76, while Brian Morfeld and David Cosel each recorded a 77. Riley Andrews had a 79.

Gene Webster of Cal State-San Bernardino and Steve Cuzzort of Wayne State go into Thursday's third round tied for the individual medalist lead at 1-under par.
