Morfeld Named RMAC First-Team All-Academic; Chan, Cornella Also Honored
Brian Morfeld of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team was honored by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as a first-team All-Academic performer, the RMAC announced on Wednesday.
Morfeld, a sophomore from Boulder, played an instrumental role as one of the players that helped the UCCS Golf team come from behind to win the Central/West Regional Tournament that featured four of the nation's top ranked teams. With the win, UCCS qualified for nationals, which will be held May 19-22 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.
Morfeld won the UCCS Spring Championship, which was held at The Broadmoor's East Course. He has a 75.55 stroke average this season. In the classroom, the Professional Golf Management major has maintained a 3.47 GPA.
Two other Mountain Lions, Kevin Chan and Barry Cornella, were named to the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll.
