UCCS Takes 10th Place at Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invite
GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Riley Andrews shot a 1-under par 71 in Tuesday's final round as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs finished 10th at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Mountain Lions finished the three-round tournament with a team score of 866, 25 strokes behind co-winners Chico State and Cal State-San Bernardino. Western New Mexico finished third, making the Mustangs the only one of the four other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools to finish ahead of UCCS.
UCCS will have a week off before hosting the UCCS Spring Invitational at The Broadmoor. That tournament will be the third of four that determine the RMAC champion. UCCS won the first two RMAC events.
Tyler Bishop shot a three-round score of 214 (2-under par) to lead Mountain Lion golfers and tie for 19th overall. Andrews was next, one shot back, followed by Brian Morfeld (217), Chris Shoop (223) and Wade Henry (226).
Cal State-San Bernardino's Kenny Pigman was the individual winner with a score of 205 (11-under par).
