UCCS Openes Springs Season with Second-Place Performance

POINT LOMA, Calif. - Tyler Bishop shot an even-par 213 to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to a second-place finish at the Point Loma Smee Builders Invitational, which concluded Tuesday.

Bishop shot a 1-under par 70 in Tuesday's final round at the Steele Canyon Golf Club. The senior took second place individually for the tournament, six strokes behind Victoria-British Columbia's Mitchell Evanecz.

Riley Andrews was second among UCCS golfers and 14th overall with a three-round score of 222. He was followed by Brian Morfeld at 223, Chris Shoop at 230 and Wade Henry at 231.

The tournament field was a who's who of high-ranked teams in NAIA Division I. Tournament winner and host Point Loma Nazarene is ranked No. 6, third-place Victoria is No. 9, fourth-place Wayland Baptist is fifth, and sixth-place Cal State-East Bay is eighth.

The tournament was the Mountain Lions' first of the spring portion of their season. They'll be in California again for their next tournament, the SoCal Invitational, on March 9-10 at Mission Viejo.
