Mountain Lion Ace Bishop Named Top Golfer in NCAA Division II
Tyler Bishop of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was ranked the top individual golfer in NCAA Division II in the Golfstat head-to-head player rankings, which were released late Friday.
"You work your whole life to be No. 1," said Bishop, a senior from Longmont, "but to actually see it happen is kind of like a dream."
His play this fall was a nightmare for opponents, though. Bishop shot nine rounds at below par and four at even par in 15 rounds played. He was the individual winner in the NCAA Division II Preview Tournament and the RMAC Golf Event #1. He took third place in the RMAC Golf Event No. 2.
Since Friday's results were the last ones scheduled to be published this fall, Bishop will remain atop the rankings at least until the next rankings in March. Bishop wants to keep his name where it is when competition resumes in the spring.
"I'm not going to let this go to my head," he said. "I'm going to do my best to improve physically in the weight room and improve my game mentally."
