Bishop Helps Mountain Lions Rise One Spot in Final Standings
GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Tyler Bishop shot a 1-under par 71 Tuesday to lead the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to 12th-place finish at the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational.
Bishop, who was tied for 30th after the first two rounds, both played Monday, climbed all the way into a 16th-place tie with his round Tuesday at the 7,121-yard layout at the Golf Club at Estrella. He finished with a three-round score of 218.
Bishop's effort was squandered, though, as teammates Kevin Chan (78), Brian Morfeld (79), Riley Andrews (80) and Taylor Stamp (84) all struggled. None finished higher than 44th for the tournament.
No. 16-ranked Cal State-San Bernardino won the tournament with a team score of 843. Point Loma Nazarene was second, 22 strokes back, while Cal State-Monterey Bay was third at 869.
Point Loma Nazarene's Sam Cyr shot a remarkable 12-under par 60 in the first round and finished the tournament at 15-under par to win top individual honors. Gene Webster and Joe Alldis, both of Cal State-San Bernardino, took second and third at 207 and 208 respectively.
