UCCS Tied for First After First Round at Regionals

PETALUMA, Calif. -- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs finishes tied for first after the first day of the NCAA Division II Northwest Regional at Adobe Creek Golf Club: Champ Tees Monday afternoon.

The Mountain Lions shot a 296 in the first round to tie them with Minnesota State Mankato. Both teams shot eight-over par.

UCCS was led by Todd Napikowski and Brian Morfeld both tying for first with a par 72. Tyler Bishop shot a 75 to tie him in 13th, while David Cosel shot a 77, and Eric Winder came in at 81.

Napikowski and Morfeld are tied with three other golfers Scott Crichton of Western New Mexico, Brandon Loesch of Minnesota State Mankato, and Clifton Sebra of Colorado Christian.

The Mountain Lions are currently leading the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools Western New Mexico, Colorado Christian, Nebraska-Kearney, Fort Lewis, and Colorado State-Pueblo by two, eight, 13, 18, and 19 strokes respectively. UCCS also leads St. Cloud State by six strokes.
