Bishop Named Golfer of the Week

By Doug Fitzgerald published April 24, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS -- Tyler Bishop of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference golfer of the week, the conference announced Thursday.

Bishop won the 2008 Northwest Regional Head-to-Head, which was held Monday and Tuesday, with a three-round score of 1-over par (217). His 3-under par 69 in the first round was the best score recorded by any player in the tournament.

Thanks in part to Bishop's performance, the Mountain Lions won the team title at the tournament and also clinched the RMAC championship, which was determined by the results of four tournaments. UCCS won three of the required tourneys and took second in the fourth.

It was Bishop's second golfer of the week award for the 2007-08 season and the third by a UCCS athlete. Todd Napokoski has also won the award.
