Golf: UCCS ranked 19th nationally
The Mountain Lions have cracked the Top 20.
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team is ranked No. 19 nationally according to Golfstat, the official golf statistics and rankings provider for the NCAA.
The ranking, which was released Wednesday, represented a two-spot rise for the Mountain Lions from the Oct. 3 rankings.
UCCS will not compete again until the spring. In their most recent tournament, the Mountain Lions took seventh place at the Grand Canyon Invitational. Four of the six teams that finished ahead of UCCS in that tournament are also currently ranked above them. Another, Point Loma Nazarene, is No. 2 in the NAIA rankings.
Prior to the Grand Canyon Invitational, UCCS took second at both the RMAC Golf Event No. 1 and the Northwest Region Fall Head-to-Head tournament.
UCCS goes into the winter break as the points leader for the RMAC title.
