Golf: Napikowski-led Mountain Lions in Seventh After First Two Rounds

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Todd Napikowski of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs shot a 5-under par 144 to tie for eight place individually after the first two rounds of the Grand Canyon Invitational which were both played Monday at the Estrella Mountain Ranch Golf Club.

Napikowski and his Mountain Lion teammates head into Tuesday's final round in seventh place with a team score of 572. UCCS is only two strokes behind sixth-place Northeastern State, three strokes behind fifth-place Western Washington and five strokes behind fourth-place Grand Canyon.

Abilene Christian leads the tournament at 556, six strokes better than second-place Point Loma Nazarene.

David Cosel and Brian Morfeld were second among UCCS golfers at even-par 144, which tied them for 26th. Tyler Bishop shot a 151 and Eric Winder shook off a disappointing first round of 83 to card a 71 in the afternoon round.
