Golf: UCCS Comeback Falls Short, Finish Second at RMAC Event #1

PUEBLO WEST -- The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team gave Western New Mexico a scare Tuesday but were unable to come all the way back as the Mountain Lions took second place at the RMAC Golf Tournament #1 at Desert Hawk Golf Club.

The Mountain Lions trailed Western New Mexico by 11 strokes after the first two rounds, both of which were played Monday. UCCS shot a team score of 296 Tuesday, which was good enough to shave seven strokes off the deficit but not enough to catch the Mustangs.

All five UCCS golfers finished among the top 18 in the 42-man field. Todd Napikowshi and David Hoffman finished tied for fifth with three-round scores of 222, while David Cosel and Tyler Bishop were tied for eighth at 225. Eric Winder was 18th at 230. Napikowski's 2-over par 74 was the
