UCCS Finishes Fourth at Mustang Invitational

Kyle Logan shot a 2-over par 74 as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team held onto fourth place after Tuesday's final round of the Mustang Invitational in Albuquerque.

Division I New Mexico won the event, which was played on the University of New Mexico Championship Course but hosted by Western New Mexico, which finished second. New Mexico finished with a three-round score of 885 while Western new Mexico was two strokes back.

Midland Community College took third with a 902, while UCCS was fourth with a 903. They were followed by Dixie State (912), West Texas A&M (917), New Mexico Community College (826) and Colorado State-Pueblo (943).

UCCS earned a point in the Steel and Silver series by topping Colorado State-Pueblo on the tournament. UCCS leads the rivalry series between the schools 16-8.

Tyler Bishop was the top individual finisher among the Mountain Lions with a three-round score of 223, which tied him for fifth. Trent Daum was next, tying for 13th at 226, while Ross McDermott came in 19th with a 228. They were followed by Eric Winder's 232 and Logan's 233. All five UCCS golfers were among the top 32 in the 74-man field.

Midland's Wynand Snyman shot 2-under par in the final round to win the individual competition with a 217. New Mexico's Parker Pemberton was second, two strokes back.

UCCS will next compete at the RMAC Invitational, the third of four tournaments that will decide both the conference championship and regional berths, on April 9-10.
