UCCS Finished Ninth at Austin
Despite Tyler Bishop's 2-under par 70 in the final round, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs slipped to a ninth-place tie at the St. Edward's Spring Invitational at The Golf Club at Circle C. in Austin, Texas.
Bishop finished the three-round tournament at 222, or 4-over par. He was three strokes behind third-place Nick Cristea of St. Edwards. Hernan Borja of Barry won the tournament with a score of 216, while teammate Nick Gillaspy was second at 217.
Host St. Edward's and Barry dueled throughout the final two rounds with St. Edwards scoring a three-stroke team victory at 897. Florida Institute of Technology was third at 911.
Kyle Logan was second among Mountain Lion golfers with a 237, good to tie him for 35th overall. Trent Daum was next at 240, while Ross McDermott shot 241 and Eric Winder carded a 245.
UCCS and Montana State-Billings were the only schools from cold-weather states competing.
Five of the 15 teams in the tournament are currently ranked among the top 20 nationally. St. Edwards (2), Abilene Christian (5), Barry (10), Central Oklahoma (11), Cameron (17) and Northeastern State (30) all came into the tournament ranked higher than No. 33 UCCS.
