University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf coach Phil Trujillo announced Thursday that Mitch Buchner had signed a national letter of intent to play for the Mountain Lions.

During his career at Loveland High School, Buchner has qualified for the Colorado State Championship Tournament three times (2003, 2005 and 2006) and was his teamâ€TMs captain all four years. He shot a 69 to lift him to the Southridge League Championship and followed that up with a strong performance at the state championship.

“Mitch is a very talented player with a solid golf swing,” said Trujillo. “I feel he will contribute to our success immediately. He has good tournament experience and plays throughout the year. He recently finished 13th at the High School State Championship shooting 73, 77 at Pinehurst Country Club.”
