Golf in 17th after first round at Air Force
Chase Wortmann shot a 2-over par 146 as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs finished the first two rounds, both played on Saturday, of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in 17th place.
Wortmannâ€TMs score at the United States Air Force Academyâ€TMs Eisenhower Blue Course tied him for 16th place individually.
Eric Winder and Alex Kephart were next among Mountain Lion golfers at 152. John Scott shot a 156 and Ross McDermott had a 159.
David Hoffman (150), Mark Ruybalid (159) and J.P. Wertz (164) were UCCS golfers who competed unattached.
UCCS, the only non-Division I school competing in the tournament, shot a team score of 606, two strokes behind 15th place San Francisco and three strokes back of Idaho and the Air Force JV.
The third and final round will be played on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m.
