Golf in ninth entering final round

By Doug Fitzgerald published April 19, 2004

No University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golfer shot better than a 75 as the Mountain Lions finished the first two rounds of the Northwest Region Spring Head-to-Head Tournament Monday in ninth place.

The third and final round of the tournament, which is being held at Firethorn Country Club in Lincoln, Neb., will be played on Tuesday.

Ninth place was a disappointing position for CU-Colorado Springs, particularly considering that the Mountain Lions tied for second place in the fall head-to-head tournament. The results of both tournaments will be combined to determine which teams advance to the NCAA Super Regional at Bellingham, Wash., on May 3-5.

Chase Wortman and Trent Daum each shot a two-round score of 153, tying them for 23rd overall. Mark Ruybalid and Nick Van Etten came in at 155, good for 34th.
