Team effort puts golf team in third at qualifier
Despite not having a player among the top 17 individually, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team was tied for third after the first two rounds of the Northwest Region Head-to-Head tournament at Hastings, Neb., on Monday.
Three Mountain Lions were in a group tied for 18th at 7-over par after Monday's play. The final round of the tournament, which is one of the official qualifiers for the regional tournament in the spring, will be played on Tuesday.
Chase Wortmann, Mark Ruybalid and Trenton Daum each shot 149 for CU-Colorado Springs on Monday. Nick Van Etten and Pomakai Shishido were also in the hunt at 9-over par.
Augustana and South Dakota State were tied for the team lead at 587. CU-Colorado Springs and North Dakota State were both at 593, while St. Cloud State was at 294.
