Mountain Lions slip in second round
A young team is going to experience growing pains. On Saturday, those pains became chronic for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs golf team.
The Mountain Lions shot a 308, the second-worst score posted by any team in the tournament, in Saturdayâ€TMs second round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational to drop to 15th overall. CU-Colorado Springs also dropped to third place among Division II schools competing at the tournament, 17 strokes behind Grand Canyon and six behind Northern Colorado.
The final round will be held on Sunday.
CU-Colorado Springsâ€TM Trenton Daum shot a 1-over par 73 Saturday to give him a two-round score of 3-over â€" tying him for 27th overall. J.P. Wertz is three strokes behind Daum, while Nick Van Etten and Mark Ruybalid shot identical 78s to drop to a tie for 54th at 7-over.
New Mexico shot a tournament-best 8-under par Saturday to take the team lead. Texas-San Antonio is second, just two strokes behind.
