UCCS Continues Academic Excellence with Release of NCAA Success Rates
INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs finished with an overall Academic Success Rate of 70 or greater for the fourth consecutive year in the release of the NCAA division II Academic Success Rates this week.
UCCS posted a departmental ASR of 70 and finished above the average of the RMAC's 14 institutions. Five conference schools finished with an ASR at 70 or greater, and only three public schools in the conference posted a 70 or greater.
The Mountain Lions men's golf team finished with a perfect ASR of 100 for the fourth straight year. The UCCS volleyball team led the women's programs for the third straight season with an ASR of 94. It was the third straight season the Mountain Lion volleyball team posted an ASR above 90.
Men's golf, women's basketball, softball and volleyball each finished above the conference average in their respective sport ASR. Men's golf, women's basketball and volleyball each finished above the national average and men's basketball matched the national average.
The ASR differs against the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Graduation Rate, which only tracks those incoming freshman who receive financial aid from athletics. The ASR also includes students who transfer in or transfer out of an institution and graduate, students who leave a team in good academic standing, and students who don't receive financial assistance.
The ASR captures and tracks approximately two-thirds more students compared to the Federal Graduation Rate. The ASR and Federal Graduation Rate both track students in cohorts from initial enrollment, meaning that this release of information is tracking students who initially enrolled in the fall of 2006 and who graduated by spring 2013.
