UCCS Fourth in Initial RMAC All-Sport Standings

By Jared Verner published September 26, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The first weekend of conference events for fall sports put the University of Colorado Colorado Springs into fourth place in the first RMAC All-Sport Snapshot Standings, compiled by the UCCS Sports Information Office. The unofficial standings use the same criteria and the current conference standings to award points through competition on Sept. 25.

The Mountain Lions are leading the conference in the women's wild card sports, which only includes cross country, soccer and golf for the fall season. UCCS is on top of the women's soccer standings through three games played, while cross country is third and golf is sixth. Cross country is scored based off of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional Poll and golf is scored based on the cumulative score from the two RMAC events this season.

UCCS is seventh in the men's wildcard sports, which only include cross country and golf for the Mountain Lions. In the core sports, UCCS is ninth with men's soccer and volleyball, but is less than four points behind fifth-place Fort Lewis in the core sport standings.

The RMAC All-Sport Competition Cup will be awarded at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year to the school with the top overall athletic department. Points are awarded based on conference finishes in four core sports and six wild card sports. The core spots of men's and women's basketball, volleyball, and either football or men's soccer, are scored for each school, plus the top three men's and top three women's finishes in other sports sponsored by the RMAC.
