UCCS Athletics Records 18th Straight Semester with GPA Above 3.00
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs student-athletes maintained a term grade point average above a 3.00 for the 18th consecutive semester and 24 Mountain Lions earned a spot on the Dean's List or President's List for the Spring 2013 term. The academic success comes in the second half of the most successful athletic season in UCCS history.
The Mountain Lions put together a term GPA of 3.20 and every sport program finished with a team GPA greater than 3.00. The UCCS indoor and outdoor track and field teams earned the inaugural RMAC Brechler Award for the top team GPA in the conference for their sport.
The performance in the classroom matches the accomplishments on the field. The UCCS women's basketball team finished in a tie for third in the RMAC and hosted its first home playoff game since 2002, the softball team made its deepest postseason run since 2006 and men's golf matched its best all-time finish at the national championships. The Mountain Lion track and field teams also qualified four student-athletes for the outdoor national championships and nine for the indoor championships.
Alan Ford and Alex Colvin earned Capital One Academic All-District honors for track and field and are under consideration for a spot on the Academic All-America teams to be announced next week. Six Mountain Lions were named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team, nine to the second team and 18 earned a spot on the RMAC Honor Roll. UCCS also had 19 student-athletes and assistants earn degrees at the spring commencement in May.
