UCCS Sixth in New RMAC Snapshot Standings

By Jared Verner published April 3, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The inclusion of outdoor track and field provided the University of Colorado Colorado Springs nearly 50 more points in the latest RMAC "Snapshot" All-Sport Standings compiled by the UCCS Sports Information Office.

The Mountain Lions remain sixth out of 14 teams with all 21 conference sports scored. UCCS improved from eighth to seventh in the men's wildcard sports and from seventh to sixth in the women's wildcard sports with the addition of outdoor track and field.

All core sports - men's soccer or football, volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball - are completed and the scores have gone final. Based on the scoring used for the 2011-12 RMAC All-Sport Competition Cup, the Mountain Lions scored 245.1 points in the core sports and finished in eighth among the 14 teams. The total is the highest since the 2006-07 season, and the highest since the scoring system changed formats in the 2008-09 season.

UCCS has earned nearly 200 more points this year than last year's total. The Mountain Lions have accumulated 667.5 points in 2012-13. The Mountain Lions have finished as high as sixth in the RMAC All-Sports Competition Cup once since joining the conference in the 1997-98 season, but haven't finished any higher than No. 10 in the last 10 years.
