Softball (19-11-1 / 14-7 RMAC)

  • The Mountain Lions return home, where they're undefeated, to host Regis in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
  • UCCS has the second-best batting average in Division II, and the ninth-best in the nation, with .379 heading into last weekend's games.
  • Jessica Belstering has a team-high eight-game hitting streak dating back to the final game of the Adams State series on March 17. She's third on the team with a .438 batting average.
  • Becca Smith struck out 10 Mavericks in the opening game of the series on Friday afternoon. She's second in the RMAC with 97 strikeouts this season.

Men's Golf

  • UCCS will be back in Arizona for the Mustang Intercollegiate on April 1-2, hosted by Western New Mexico at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
  • The Mountain Lions are receiving votes in the latest GolfWorld/Nike Golf national poll released last week and is No. 44 in the latest GolfStat national rankings. Grant Dean is the highest ranked Mountain Lion in the individual rankings at No. 116.
  • UCCS finished eighth in the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational last week. Spencer Biersdorff and Dean both tied for No. 22 to lead the team.
  • The Mountain Lions will be one of five RMAC teams in the Mustang Intercollegiate, along with Regis, Western New Mexico, Colorado Mesa and Regis.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field

  • The Mountain Lions will continue the outdoor season at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational Saturday at the University of New Mexico.
  • Carson Aberle ranks second in the RMAC, and No. 14 in Division II, with 1:52.70 in the 800-meter run from the Jerry Quiller Classic on March 16.
  • UCCS won five events at Saturday's Colorado Mines Division II Front Range Invitational. Andre Young ran the second-fastest 400-meter hurdle time in program history to lead the Mountain Lion champions.
  • Sam Feldotto won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in his first collegiate attempt, and came within a half-second of one of the top five fastest times in UCCS history.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field

  • UCCS will be one of four RMAC teams traveling to the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational this Saturday at the University of New Mexico.
  • Alex Colvin was the first RMAC Female Field Athlete of the Week after she provisionally qualified at the UTEP Springtime Meet. She ranks fourth in Division II with 12 feet, ½ inch.
  • Alyssa Andrews ran 17:34.10 in the 5,000-meter run at the UPS Peyton Scoring Meet last Saturday. It's the fourth-fastest time in UCCS history and the fastest since Shannon Payne set the record in 2006.
  • Alexa Urban won the 800-meter run at the Colorado Mines Division II Front Range Invitational last Saturday with 2:18.75. She has the fastest time in the RMAC this season.
