Mountain Lions No. 30 in Final Fall Directors' Cup Standings
CLEVELAND - The national championship finishes by men's and women's cross country put the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in No. 30 in the final fall standings of the 2012-13 Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The standing is the best for the Mountain Lions after the completion of the fall season in program history.
UCCS earned 133.5 points through the fall season after a No. 10 finish in women's cross country and a No. 11 finish for men's cross country at the national championships last month. The points put the Mountain Lions in No. 30 after the fall season, five places ahead of the previous best finish after the 2004 fall season.
The Mountain Lions were one of five RMAC schools ranked in the top 30 of the nation, and one of 152 Division II schools to qualify at least one team for the national postseason in the fall. The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup measures the top overall athletic department in each division in up to seven men's and seven women's sports in the national championships.
