Mountain Lions Fourth in New RMAC
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Another round of RMAC standings went final as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs moved to fourth in the new RMAC "snapshot" standings in the All-Sports Competition Cup. In the four championships that have been decided, the Mountain Lions have finished in the top four of every event.
The standings shifted after the completion of the men's and women's soccer regular season on Sunday. For the Mountain Lions specifically, the standings shifted after a weekend at Colorado Mines and Metro State. The volleyball home weekend with Regis and Metro State also shifted UCCS around in the standings, but four remaining matches should provide an opportunity for the Mountain Lions to make a final push in the all-sport standings.
The point total of 443.3 points is just more than two points behind Regis and less than 30 points behind Adams State. The total puts the Mountain Lions well within last year's point total of 484 points from the entire fall, winter and spring seasons.
The final All-Competition Cup standings will include the four core sports of football or men's soccer, volleyball and men's and women's basketball. A school will then earn points from the top finishes in three men's and three women's wildcard sports, which are the other sports sponsored by the RMAC.
The snapshot rankings use the current RMAC standings and assign points from the scoring system as if the current standings were the final results. For men's and women's golf, the points are assigned using the cumulative scoring total from the teams in the RMAC events and ranking the teams accordingly.
