COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fans of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions can receive exclusive updates from each of the teams throughout the season and during games by following the department on Twitter at @GoMountainLions.

"We're planning on restructuring our use of Twitter during the fall season to provide unique facts on our teams and student-athletes and to provide in-game updates and highlights," said Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Jared Verner. "We're in the process of implementing a comprehensive multimedia and social media plan, and Twitter will have a prominent place in that system."

Every home event is scheduled to have Twitter updates, and most road events will have live updates depending on staffing levels. When games aren't in action during the week, general news and unique facts will be distributed to followers.

The 2012-13 academic year will mark the fourth year for the Mountain Lions on Twitter. The microblogging site claims more than 500 million active users.
