Verner Named Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UC-Colorado Springs Athletic Director Steve Kirkham is excited to announce the addition of Jared Verner to the Mountain Lions administrative staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information. Verner begins his official duties today.
"I'm excited to join the staff at UCCS and hit the ground running," Verner said. "I'm honored to join the staff and to help share the great accomplishments of the Mountain Lion student-athletes."
Verner joins the Mountain Lion staff after spending the last three years at Western State Colorado University. While at Western Colorado, he coordinated a staff that posted double-digit percentage increases in online traffic and established the Mountaineer social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Verner successfully gained recognition in Sports Illustrated for three student-athletes and successfully nominated four student-athletes to five Capital One Academic All-America honors.
Verner was the runner-up for the 2011-12 Con Marshall/J.W. Campbell Sports Information Director of the Year. His 2010-11 wrestling gameday program was named "Best in the Nation" by the College Sports Information Directors of America among the College Division.
