Busy weekend on tap at UCCS
COLORADO SPRINGS - The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will host its first intercollegiate cross country meet as the centerpiece of a very busy weekend in Mountain Lions athletics.
UCCS will host the Rust Buster Invitational Saturday at Monument Valley Park North. The womenâ€TMs race will begin at 9 a.m., with the men's race following at 9:45 a.m.
Schools competing in the event will be: UCCS, Colorado College, Colorado State-Pueblo, Colorado Christian, Mesa State and Colorado School of Mines.
But the Rust Buster Invitational is just the beginning. UCCS will also host the 2008 Marriott Volleyball Invitational, which will run from Thursday-Saturday at the Lions' Den. The action will begin with a single match, UCCS vs. Adams State, on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by four matches on Friday beginning at noon. The tournament will conclude Saturday with four matches beginning at 10 a.m.
Aside from UCCS and Adams State, the volleyball teams from Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth and Mesa State will also be playing.
The Mountain Lions women's soccer team will add to the hectic schedule with a home match against Minnesota State, Mankato on Friday at 7 p.m.
