University of Colorado at Colorado Springs sports information director Doug Fitzgerald learned Monday that his "Lion Eyes" poster had won fifth place nationally in the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) annual publications contest.

"You can't hide your Lion eyes" was the theme of the 2005-06 UCCS Athletic Department promotional poster. It featured a girl wearing sunglasses with the UCCS Mountain Lion logo reflected in the lenses. The poster also included schedules of UCCS intercollegiate sports teams.

Fitzgerald conceived the poster and also did the photography. Keith McMichen of School District 11 Production printing created the reflection effect and completed the layout.

The poster was awarded fifth place in CoSIDA Division B/C, which includes all schools other than those in NCAA Division I.

According to the contest, posters are publications which are produced to promote some aspect of the athletic program and distributed for general use by media, team members and fans or any combination of the same.

The top five places were:

Posters / DIVISION B-C
1. Graceland College Football (Amy Woodruff, Megan Campbell)
2. University of St. Francis Football (Bill Scott)
3. Graceland College Basketball (Amy Woodruff, Megan Campbell)
4. Ferris State University Basketball (Rob Bentley, Joe Gorby, FSU Photographic Services)
5. University of Colorado at Colorado Springs - Fall Sports (Doug Fitzgerald)
